Georges Sakr: An Introduction

PhD Candidate in Linguistics and English Language
University of Edinburgh

I am currently in the process of obtaining a PhD in Linguistics and English Language at the University of Edinburgh. I am also Director of Training at the Champville Model United Nations training program, which I helped establish in 2011.

My research interests are in the fields of phonetics and phonology, and sociophonetics. I am currently working on documenting the phonology of Central Mount Lebanon Lebanese. My supervisors are Dr Patrick Honeybone, Dr Bert Remijsen, and Dr Michael Ramsammy.

I did my undergraduate studies in English Language at the American University of Beirut, and an MSc, then an MScR, in Linguistics and English Language, at the University of Edinburgh.

I am curious about languages, cultures, art, history, and the interaction between peoples; my hobbies include programming, web design, photography, screenwriting, gaming, and watching beautifully shot and directed television.
